During this May, I have seen a total of 63 movies(including dvd,theater,tv, rewatch...). I am glad I could find time to watch them. Let me introduce the 5 star movies now.

この邦画がすごい！男はつらいよ第一作（It is tough being a man!)

When I was much younger , I did not put myself into this wonderful Japanese movie. but,as I experienced a lot of things along the way, I began to highly estimate its greatness.we cannot underestimate the importance of torasan film series.released 2 times a year between 1969-1995 48 series holds the guiness book record for being the longest running film series. and it is not easy to pick up the best film of all. but the first released film is worthy to be selected. because it has almost all of the elements that will show us in subsequent films. superb movie!今回見た邦画、砂の女（Woman in the Dunes)

Sunanoonnna Japanese trailer below Now,I am back here to post newly watched film(including rewatch)
that was a 砂の女(woman in the dunes). the shots that engrossed me deeply as follows:
the artistic movement of sand by superb camerawork.
the beauty and eroticism Kyoko Kisida(female lead) conveyed to me.
Excellent depiction of the Psychology between the two lead roles.
Minimal sound fits the images bleak and deserted dunes.

It is said Toshio Kurosawa felt jealousy to watch this film.
this film was the second one of the director Hiroshi Teshigawara.
one of the strangest and most tauntingly beautiful films made.it is simple but its texture is complex.

「lady in the cage(不意打ち)」を見てトラウマになった人は多いだろう？！

I have to say the Japanese title for this 「lady in the cage」is 
very bad.
Ｊａｐａｎｅｓｅ　title 不意打ち literally means sneak raid.
How can lady in the cage be put into sneak raid?
This film was one of the most chilling movies of all times.It was one that had you on the edge of your seat.I think Olivia is a bit overacted.
but,James Caan is superb in portraying a street thug .

It is a stylish and bizarre film.This director Meyers work truly promote feminism.I am impressed with the opening shot of the 3 in 
the bar gogo dancing.
Ｉｔ enjoys its place at the top of cult lists partly because of its inherent delights,creative editing,a jazzy score,black and white cinematography,and plenty of innuendo
Tura Satana was born in hokkaido in 
Japan.Her father was a silent movie actor of Japanese and 
Filipino descent. It was so fast paced that I never got bored during
running time.

musical comedy(Love me tonight今夜は愛して頂戴な)は楽しい映画

This film is a 1932 musical comedy.It features the classic Rodgers and Hart songs,I especially like "Isnt it romantic?"
Listening to these songs,stresses will be wiped out.
In 1990, Love Me Tonight was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

Its memorable scene is where the princess is chasing the train riding on her horse to meet his love.What a beautiful actress Jeanette MacDonald is ,standing on the rail!

パルムドール受賞作品Open city(無防備都市）

The story takes place in Nazi occupied Rome.It was made only months after the Allied Forces had pushed the Nazis out of Italy, so the atmosphere of the time is well conveyed to us.I am absorbed in the charaters.They remain in my mind forever.The message from the film is, even when innocent people suffer at the hands of inhuman captors(捕らえる人), they ultimately triumph over the evil.

It is an astonishing film from director Michael Powell.when it was released, many ferocious critics hated it resulting in destroying Michael Powell career.I cannot believe the movie was a total fiasco at its first release.

I know where I am going(渦巻）マイケル・パウエル、エメリック・プレスバーガー作品

「I know where I am going(渦巻）」follows a woman on the way to her wedding to a rich man on an island in Scotland. I do not think this is the Powell - Pressburger duo at their finest.Compared to their Red Shoes,all the others are behind it.「I know where I am going 」is just not as well known as their "Red Shoes," or "Stairway to Paradise."I hear the fans of this film make a pilgrimage to the Isle of Mull.It is no wonder people watch this film feel like going there.Locations are stunningly beautiful.

Black Narcissus（黒水仙）1947マイケル・パウエル、エメリック・プレスバーガー作品

Black Narcissus is a 1947 film by the British director-writer team of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, based on the novel of the same name by Rumer Godden. It is a psychological drama about the emotional tensions within a convent of nuns in an isolated Himalayan valley,Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger　were the team behind Archer Productions.This film is an engrossing and moody masterpiece.From the same team that gave us THE RED SHOES this film is a must see for those who appreciate a great story fleshed out by terrific performances in lush settings with phenomenal art direction.This is a movie about the conflicts between spirit and flesh.

A truly remarkable movie!
A Matter of Life and Death (1946) is a romantic fantasy film set in World War II by the British writer-director-producer team of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger.
This film is quite timeless. The "fantasy" element was deftly played. it is not over-weighted with philosophy and yet thought-provoking.

映画「ブラックスワン」をはるかに凌ぐ映画「赤い靴」The Red shoes(1949film赤い靴）outstrip Black swan(ブラックスワン）

To summarize its main theme,A young ballet dancer is torn between the man she loves and her pursuit to become a prima ballerina.
I have watched 2 movies,Black swan and this Red shoes.To be frank,
Red shoes outstip Black swan in terms of actors/actresses performances,music,dancing scenes,dresses,arts,and so on.
I was taken in by the style and grace of the film, both in the musical and the dramatic moments. The actual "Red Shoes Ballet" itself is an astounding work of art.The long dance sequence remains a cinematic landmark

Japanese classic人情紙風船（Humanity And Paper Balloons）

This Japanese movie director Sadao Yamanaka was drafted into the Japanese army and entered the service on the day this film was released theatrically.And sadly, was died during the war when he was very young aged 28!.With the exception of this film, and only 2 others were survived that we could watch them now.His other films(about 30)were lost ,I think the it is a big loss to the world of the movie globally.
The power of Humanity and Paper Balloons exists not only in the social message that shows the hardships endured by the poor but in its delineation of character,
The film starts with an unseen suicide by a disgraced samurai who hangs himself out of desperation. As the death is being investigated, local tenants hold a wake that turns into a evening of merriment, ostensibly to cleanse the evil that lingers there...
the floating paper ballon in the barrage seems to indicate the human destiny...

BSでハーヴェイ（Harvey、1950年度作品）を見ました。実に面白い。

Jimmy Stewart gives one of his best performances as Elwood in this film.He himself said this role was his favorite one.And in this film,
he has a companion, who do you think he/she is? well,it is an invisible one!! but as the story goes on, that invisible one can be seen by the other person.Elwood is very sociable person,always gives his calling card to people whoever he meets,to invite them to his house to have fun or so,,,This film provides much food for thought on the matter of insanity.
Josephine Hull（Elwood sister) was a wonderfull actress being terrific in this film! She won the Academy Award for this!

The elements in this film that blows me away whenever watching it:
The opening sequence of the bombardment scenes
Camera moving to show the people fleeing the bombing
The unaffected and natural acting of the two children
René Clément superb instruction in those chidren acting

This film was not success in France at its first run.
It was acclaimed well in the other countries.
Whenever I hear the sound of guitar...I am moved to tears.

While not a box-office success, this drama, directed by Leo McCarey, developed a potent reputation among film critics and movie buffs for its sensitive and perceptive treatment of the problems of the elderly. When McCarey won the Oscar for Best Director the same year for The Awful Truth, he remarked that the Academy gave him the award for the wrong movie. Barkley and Lucy Cooper (Victor Moore and Beulah Bondi) are a couple in their late 60s who have fallen on hard times and have been given the bad news that the bank is foreclosing on their house. Barkley and Lucy turn to their five children for help, but none are willing or able to do much for them; their son George (Thomas Mitchell) says that Lucy can stay with him and his wife Anita (Fay Bainter), while Nellie (Minna Gombell) and her husband Harvey (Porter Hall) can take in Barkley, but neither couple have the space or the means to house them both. Living with their children and their new families proves stressful for everyone involved, and Lucy decides to take up residence in a home for older women. She and Barkley realize that this will probably mean a permanent separation for the two of them, and they try to enjoy one last outing together before they part. Remarkably, Beulah Bondi was only 46 years old when this film was made, making her less then ten years older than several of her on-screen children; make-up wizard Wally Westmore used his bag of tricks to age her the appropriate two decades for the role. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

It is unbelievable that this film was made in 1937!
They say that this movie inspired a Japanese director Yasujirō ozu to craft "tokyo monogatari" .The cruelty, saddness,difficulty in the parents - their children relationships are well-expressed,indeed.
I feel glad this one is listed in the 1001 movies you must see.

賛否両論がはっきり分かれるTree of life(ツリーオブライ）

The film opens with a quote from the Book of Job.
Afterwards, a mysterious, wavering light that resembles a flame flickers in the darkness. Mrs. O'Brien (Jessica Chastain) recalls a lesson taught to her that people must choose to either follow the path of grace or the path of nature. In the mid 1960s, she receives a telegram informing her of the death of her son, R.L., at age nineteen. Mr. O'Brien (Brad Pitt) is notified by telephone. The family is thrown into turmoil.
In the 2000s, eldest son Jack O'Brien (Sean Penn) is adrift in his modern life as an architect. One day he has an argument with his father regarding R.L.'s death. Later, after Jack sees a tree being planted in front of a building, he begins to reminisce about his life as a young teenager during the 1950s.

To understand this film, we should absolutely understand the story of job from the bible.I think the main theme of this film is conveyed to us through the story of job...God gives us everything, however, takes everything from us.we are under the control of God...

Billy Beane is handicapped with the lowest salary constraint in baseball. If he ever wants to win the World Series, Billy has to find a competitive advantage. Billy is going to turn baseball on its ear when he takes advantage of statistical data to analyze and place value on the players he chooses for the team.In 2001, Oakland A's lose to the Yankees in the playoffs then lose three stars to free agency. How can Beane field a competitive team when the A's player salaries total less than a third of the rich teams'? To the consternation of his scouts, Beane hires and listens to Peter Brand, a recent Yale graduate who evaluates players using Bill James' statistical approach. Beane assembles a team of no names who, on paper, can get on base and score runs. Then, Beane's manager, Art Howe, won't use the players as Beane wants. Can Beane circumvent Howe, win games, make it to the 2002 Series, and stand baseball's hidebound conventions on their heads?

アカデミー作品賞候補、Martin Scorsese監督、ヒューゴの不思議な発明（Hugo）

In 1931, Hugo Cabret, a 12-year-old boy, lives with his widowed father, a kind and devoted master clockmaker in Paris. Hugo's father takes him to see films and loves the films of Georges Méliès best of all. Hugo's father is burned alive in a museum fire, and Hugo is taken away by his uncle, an alcoholic watchmaker who is responsible for maintaining the clocks in the railway station Gare du Nord. His uncle teaches him to take care of the clocks, then disappears.
Hugo lives between the walls of the station, maintaining the clocks, stealing food and working on his father's most ambitious project: repairing a broken automaton – a mechanical man who is supposed to write with a pen. Convinced that the automaton contains a message from his father, Hugo goes to desperate lengths to fix it. Hugo steals mechanical parts in the station to repair the automaton, but he is caught by a toy store owner named Georges Melies who takes Hugo's notebook from him, with notes and drawings for fixing the automaton.

What I feel good about　this film is that the scenes from A trip to the moon,The great train robbery(月世界旅行、大列車強盗）appear on the screen.

アカデミー賞作品賞候補、Academy award nominated movie「the artist」,its actress is not so attractive.

Time flies indeed! The academy award ceremonoy is approaching...
This year totally 9 movies are chosen for this award.
I am wondering which one will be a best picture.
Today,I first chose the Artist to be posted in my blog.
I am one of the classics fan.Some of them made me cry,laugh, think of my past etc. the silent movie entertains me in a different way that an usual movie does.

The Artist is a 2011 French romantic drama film directed by Michel Hazanavicius, starring Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo. The story takes place in Hollywood between 1927 and 1932 and focuses on the relationship of an older silent film star and a rising young actress, as silent cinema falls out of fashion and is replaced by the talkies. Most of the film itself is silent; it was produced in black-and-white, and has received wide praise from critics and many accolades. Dujardin won the Best Actor Award at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, where the film premiered.

As far as its trailer is concerned, it does not seem to impress me like the other classics does.
